fried eggs and gherkin
sounds like a really bad Dr Seuss book. not that i imagine they had gherkin relish back in his day.
so yeah, 10 pence bread from the local tesco garage and whatever i could find in my fridge. today, i choose EGG.
usually used in my house for making my special brand of blueberry muffins, there was only one left, so scrambled egg would have been a bit poor. boiled egg takes too much effort, ditto to poaching, although rob from b3ta's egg in clingfilm did tempt me, until i realised i didnt have any clingfilm. doh! so fried it was. quick and easy.
so here we have it... fried egg and gherkin relish.
it wasnt actually half as grim as i was expecting! i added a little salt to try to counteract the sweetness of it all, and it definitely helped. still not a perfect partner for gherkin relish, but a definite improvement ove monday's bacon effort.
I think we need some sort of scoring/review system for this. anyone care to come up with a formula for scoring or something? i think looks, taste and sweetness should all account for something. for example, relish and sugar=10 on the sweet scale whereas relish and salt=1.
personal preference goes towards savoury, especially with gherkins, but who knows, maybe its true calling in life is that of a condiment for sweet items. chocolate spread perhaps?
depending on how knackered I am after work, i may or may not do something with that corned beef I bought yesterday...
